SBVB
Information
Shipley & Baildon was established
in 1982 as an incorporated association and became a registered charity
in 1996 and a Company Limited by Guarantee in 2001.
The object of the Bureau is
"to provide voluntary work and similar charitable activities for the benefit
of the community and to advance the education of the volunteers by providing
advice, information and assistance where appropriate."
We encourage as many people
as possible to volunteer without fear of discrimination, so that they
have a positive volunteering experience for themselves and to respond
to individual and community needs.
We provide information on
opportunities in voluntary, charitable and statutory agencies and act
as a central recruiting agency to help volunteers to find appropriate
placements.
We advocate the rights and
responsibilities of volunteers. In addition, we offer good practice policies.
We promote volunteering as
a valuable and integral part of society which deserves support and recognition.
We provide advice, information,
support and training to volunteers.
We develop and support others
in the development of appropriate new voluntary opportunities which can
help fulfil individual and community needs.
